In
2002 Penrhiwceiber Ward became a designated Communities First
area under the Welsh Assembly Government’s new long-term
community regeneration initiative, and the Penrhiwceiber
Community Revival Strategy Group became host to the Communities
First Coordinator for the village.
The Communities First initiative is currently delivered in the
ward by the following staff members –
Coordinator Penrhiwceiber (employed and hosted by PCRSG)
Coordinator Miskin (employed by RCTCBC, hosted by Miskin
Regeneration Trust)
Community Development Worker (employed by RCTCBC to work in
Perthcelyn)
Community Development Worker (employed by RCTCBC to deliver
programme ward-wide)
Youth Development Worker (employed by RCTCBC to deliver
programme ward-wide)
Learning and Training Officer (employed by RCTCBC to deliver
programme ward-wide)
Arts Development Officer (employed and hosted by PCRSG via
Creative Communities)
Admin Support Worker (employed by RCTCBC to deliver programme
ward-wide)
In
addition to the above paid staff, there are a number of
volunteers who devote time and effort into ensuring that the
PCRSG and C1st in the area is a success. The Group Chair, and
Treasurer are both volunteers from the community, and all of the
Directors of the PSG are devoting their time on a voluntary
basis.
The PCRSG is a fully constituted group, and is the recipient and
administrator for Communities First funds for the area.
