CYNON VALLEY SPORT AND ECONOMIC VILLAGE

The Welsh Rugby League along with Penrhiwceiber Strategy Group and Communities First have been working on a project to develop a sustainable structure and multi use amenity site in the Pentwyn Fields which are within Penrhiwceiber village. The facility will provide the community with a focal area for cultural sporting and educational activities.

The new development will consist of:

·        A Multi purpose Sports Hall

·        120 bed Dormitories

·        Offices for community use

·        Space for educational purposes

·        Maintenance of the existing pitches

  • All weather pitch

The aim of the project is to build a Sports and Economic Village around the existing Pentwyn Fields area of Penrhiwceiber. The Sports facilities will not be limited to any one particular sport and will not affect the football structures that are already in place at the site but will enhance the use of the existing pitches and bring an excellent facility to the area which will in turn create local employment opportunities.

GETTING INVOLVED

There has been an open presentation held with many residents of the village attending but we are now seeking to set up a steering group within Penrhiwceiber. The steering group will look to keep the community informed of the progress of the project and ensure that any local views and ideas are discussed and taken forward.

If you, or a member of your group, are interested in becoming involved in this project, please contact Karen or Drew on 01443 476750, or email karen.s.davies@rhondda-cynon-taff.gov.uk or Andrew.Roberts@rhondda-cynon-taff.gov.uk
